Pet behavior – Train him on leash

Dogs at a young age are easy to train, but you can train older dogs just as well. You just need to have patience; regular training will do the job.
Pack animal – Instincts to follow
You have to keep the basic dog psychology in mind, that is, they are natural follower if you are ready to lead them.
Lead him, while you are taking him for a walk, walk in front; show them who is the boss. Keep them close. Follow the steps.
1. Be the leader of the pack
Show them that you are the leader and they have to follow.
  • Long walk so they know that they are bound to obey even when the fun is tearing off. Morning walk are best.
  • Always walk in front having them by the leash.
  • Keep short distance, so they don’t distract and keep following you.
2. Discipline leads to obedience and training
  • Maintain a regular schedule.
  • Daily habit, long walk, maintain the minimum walk time. Good idea to increase time, after every couple of days.
  • Lead them to the end, even a few steps in the hallway.
  • Keep a short leash during the walk.
3. Reward – positive reinforcement.
  • Led them to follow the exact path you choose, motivate them with treat during the walk.
  • Always reward them after the walk so they can be motivated and know that they are doing what they are told.
4. Keep them comfortable – keep them focused.
Generic Behavior Training
Dog natural instinct is to follow. Do normal fun exercise with your dog during your fun hour with your pet. Train they to be obedient. “Heal and sit”, “come”, “away” are good keywords to use as they learn to follow the commands. Always use treat/reward him as positive reinforcement and come strong at unwanted behavior.
You don’t need to always do the exercise with them. Only walking them need to be regular. You can have your fun time with them with occasional behavior exercise.

Dog Behavior – Why Dog Howls

There is no fixed meaning to dog howls but there are multiple stimuli which trigger this behavior.
Psychological factors: Anxiety, stress and loneliness
The dog howls to express their pain. The pain they feel may be physiological or psychological. They express their stress, vocal signal as bound in their genetics, identify their psychological need. Since by nature dog is friendly and pack animal hence loneliness can be very painful. Its in their nature to contribute to their pack, and guard them, protect them.
Dog is man’s best friend made by Frederick, King of Prussia in 1789.
The New-York Literary Journal, Volume 4, 1821 – citation on Dog as human friend (source – Wikipedia)
The faithful dog – why should I strive
To speak his merits, while they live
In every breast, and man’s best friend
Does often at his heels attend
In your case, it might be physical. It may be the reason that she is uncomfortable in her collar and leash. Try nylon dog collar and dogleash (Lollipops Nylon Ribbon Leash). Check your dog crate bed; Is he sleeping properly?
Physiological factors: Injury and painWe humans, weep/cry when are in pain. Dog howls when they are in pain. You can consider checking him by your veterinarian. Check their collar, observe the signs of the discomfort. They may have pain in their leg, or some recent activity and exercise has brought muscular pain. Check their bed, crate; Are they sleeping properly?
You will soon realize that it not something serious but minor changes can bring them comfort and will solve the problem.
Alerting you or alarming youIt might be a sign from your dog alerting you of some stimuli (siren, crash or other external/environmental stimuli). Since they have a protective nature, they always signal you, any unusual activity which prompts them and urge the need or feel danger or something that they can’t understand.
Attention seeking and an expression of anxietyIt comes under psychological factors but I have added it separately because you should understand since it might occur time to time in everyday life as being a pet owner. The dog has natural need of bonding and seeking attention. When they get it quite often they behave naturally. But if you have recently shifted to new place, new environment or family member/members has moved out; your dog will feel emptiness. If he won’t get the opportunity to express it, it will create anxiety and might behave anxiously.
Get more friends, take him to a walk, be playful. Introduce them to children in a park. If you have kids, expand their social circle and so will your dog.
Protective nature, defense mechanize and boundary demarcationHis protective nature, its their defense mechanism and a expression of them saying you are not invited.
Some dog breeds howls more than others, include Alaskan Malamutes, American Eskimo Dogs, Beagles, Coonhounds, Huskies (Alaskan and Siberian), Native American Indian Dogs
Behavior Training Dog in their nature has need to follow, train they to be obedient. “Heal and sit”, “come away”, “throw and pick” is a good behavior modifier and they learn to follow command. Treat/reward him (bacon strips) him for good behavior and come strongly when they exhibit unwanted behavior. When you train him regularly, command and control them, they will learn and only asking them to stop will do the trick.

Cat losing appetite – can lead to liver failure

You should consult with your veterinarian as soon as possible because as indicated in the comments he is in serious pain and sick, since loss of appetite often indicates illness and vet will be able to help you.
Generic cause of change in eating habit and lost of appetite.
Illness, recent vaccination, unfamiliar environment/surrounding (for travelers), psychological issues (anxiety and depression; yes cats can get depressed as well).
First course of action, consult your vet. Start observing, keeping above causes in mind, lost of appetite is serious, in such a case, fats deposits gives energy but it is processed by liver (requires adequate supplies of protein) so if protein supplies are exhausted and fats overwhelmed liver; can cause liver failure a condition called “hepatic lipidosis”.

How cats survive falls

An interesting ITV documentary shared by telegraph explaining how cats survive falls and always lands on their feet. Check this amazing video provided by telegraph.
how cat can survive heights since they have natural instincts to turn themselves into living parachutes by spreading out all four legs to slow the fall, extends the claws for firm land and finally flexes back to absorb the shock of impact.

Grow your Facebook Page Easily

Creating a fanpage after a few clicks and then? You would be wondering how to grow it, you would have read so many articles and posts; helpful, indeed but how effectively you have applied it. Here then are 10 easy ways to grow your fanpage as organically as possible:
1. Suggest to Friends
Just below your fanpage picture you’ll find a link that says “Suggest to Friends”. This allows you to invite all of your friends on Facebook. Unfortunately, in the “Suggest to Friends” window Facebook hasn’t allowed a “Select All” feature. This is because the social network giant is trying to limit spamming and hopes that you will only select people that would have an interest in joining. Inviting all your friends is therefore a bit of a “click, click, scroll, click, click” mission, but it is worth it.
It needn’t stop there though – and this is the continuous tightrope you’ll be treading between spamming bastard and Facebook friend – because you need to encourage your friends to invite all of their friends. Don’t be too pushy though, a friendly request will do from time-to-time.
2. Link Seeding
As previously mentioned, there is a thin line between spam and being legitimate, so be careful. After suggesting to your Facebook friends, you should now be searching Facebook for similar interest groups and fanpages. Once similar pages are found, then make a relevant comment on the wall and provide a link to your group for further information. This should be a systematic daily chore. Additionally, use your own status updates to promote the link to your page. You can also seed your link off of Facebook in forums and comment sections on other websites, blogs and Twitter of course.
3. Promoting your Facebook Page
Social media is still an afterthought in many marketing campaigns, but these days it is essential to implement a fully-integrated campaign. This means that your social media efforts must be included in all your marketing collateral. For example, if you send out a newsletter, make sure you include a link to your Facebook Page. You can even send out a dedicated mail telling people about your Facebook presence. Make sure you also have a Facebook badge on your website. Include “Join us on Facebook” in your print, radio and TV ads. I’m still astounded by how few TV ads include Facebook, Twitter or even the website address.
4. Competitions and Promotions
A great way to increase membership is to run competitions and promotions on Facebook. There are many creative ways of doing this, but please take note of Facebook’s promotion guidelines. Many companies are actually running “illegal” promotions on Facebook.
Facebook doesn’t say what the consequences will be if you are caught out, but you could risk having your page banned, and losing everything you’ve worked to achieve in terms of membership.
5. Regular Updates
Creating a Facebook Page means that it must be administered correctly and provide value to people who join or “Like” it. It is NOT just a new channel to push out your crappy press releases. You must provide value in terms of content, information, personal interactivity and support. Make an effort to update ever day and try using different media – status updates, notes, discussions, videos and pictures. If possible, create shareable content that will further spread your page in the network.
  • Post atleast weekly regarding your niche. It does not need to be a big article created being done a lot of research; a paragraph or two with an attractive photo will do just fine. Frequently asked questions is a good way to start.
  • Post a what is happening with you: A news post with a picture, telling your customers what is happening in your business.
  • Curate 5-10 top articles related to your niche: From web you will find too many items of interests. Do the exercise weekly. Describe why you liked them.
  • Interview someone in the industry
In terms of value, please take note of this Adweek article which says: “A study of ‘digitally connected’ consumers found that over 40% are following brands on Twitter just because of exclusive offers or deals distributed by the brand on Twitter. The numbers are about the same for Facebook or MySpace, with 37% saying they had “friended” a brand in order to get special deals.”
People want value and it will also help grow your page when you offer social media specific deals. For example, give out a discount code on your Facebook Page. You will be able to track the success of these campaigns accurately as people will use the code to redeem the discount.
6. Cross-Platform Pollination
Having fresh contents is first step, the second important thing is that you need to make it shareable.  Social share plugin and/or Facebook Share buttons.
Example Digg Digg plugin  (have all of the buttons, floats along the side while scrolling through the article)
You can cross-pollinate from your other social media efforts. If you’re posting videos on YouTube, make sure you include a clickable link in the video to join your Facebook Page. You can also link your Facebook and Twitter accounts so that any Facebook update gets published on Twitter too. This will drive your Twitter followers to your Facebook page and vice-versa.
Optimize other places on Facebook to add links to your website. Paste link to generate the snapshot, instead of placing a rough link. Add links to your photos. Optimize your profile, aboutus page, make them visible and informative right at hand.
7. Social Bookmarking
Use the same SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) principles that you use to promote your website. Submit your Facebook Page to social bookmarking sites like DeliciousDiggRedditMixxStumbleupon and others.
8. Email Signatures
You’ve got your contact details in your email signature, but most people don’t include their Twitter or Facebook links in there. If you’ve got a couple of thousand employees, imagine how much exposure your page will get if the link to your brand’s Facebook Page is in every single email they send?
9. Events
Events are a great way to get exposure as it promotes the “Invite Friends” functionality on Facebook. Consider sponsoring a local band or DJ, or throw a charity event, and then you can promote it on your Facebook Page and encourage members to invite their friends.
10. Advertising
Facebook ads are incredibly effective as they offer granular targeting. You can specify keywords, geo-location, age groups, gender and more.
BUT
One issue that I see is that when boosting a post, it don’t return you lot of link clicks though you get likes and comments on the post. If you really want to use Facebook to promote your website, use Ads Manager and choose that objective “Better click rate for your website”
facebook ads manager
In order to improve click through rate improvement, use the news feed ads because comparatively the ads don’t get clicked much.

Now as you know how to guide the ads to get to your business website but if your website is not better acquainted and don’t have call to action, then its pointless.

Adopting 4 weeks old Puppy

My opening statement to this question will be “BIG NO” but different advise will be for orphaned puppy and if you are a real pet lover and can bear the pain of trouble an infant puppy gives, I will vote up for adoption since you might take better care than he already has been.
First check this video and then read more, you will understand better about the responsibility and compassion.
THE CARE HE WILL REQUIRE: 1. Four weeks won’t be trained for potty/litter training, just forget about it. Note: Six weeks old can hold bladder for an hour.
2. Since separated from his mom so early, hence won’t learned bite inhibition, so it will bite often and hard. You may be able to train this out.
3. Social skills problems it may exhibit for quite some time. but probably not.
4. Potty training as mentioned in point no 1, nights will be challenging. Puppy will probably cry in night for the first few weeks, you can take him out since you are already awake but might not be productive and puppy will just pee whenever urges; no matter how often you take him out (I am taking about first 6 weeks)
5. At four weeks it has no vaccinations.
6. Loneliness will putup stress and puppy will have crying issues.
ADOPT IF PET LOVER, FEW ADVISES
NOTE: Outside is not advisable till he is of age, means he has vaccinations completed.
  1. Adopt two not one, it will cover his stress and they will groom playful.
  2. Get connected with vet.
    • Take help of your pet loving neighbor, if he has pet mother; make him social by inviting and visiting them now and then so he will groom fine.
    • Feed it properly and socialize him with pups after he/she has all her vaccinations, since taken away so young from his/her mother
    • Make him out few times a week, dog park. Socialize him with youngsters of his age so he may learn bite inhibition.
  3. Monkeys are natural mothers and take care of infants regardless of their kind. If nearby, you have pet monkey, it will be good idea to introduce your puppy to him. You will be touched by the monkey’s apparent compassion for the puppy.
